Tropfen/Skalen (2008)
for two pianos, amplification and fixed media electronics
Score (pdf | .5 mb)
Lluïsa Espigolé and Weronika Krowka premiered this piece
at the »Piano Plus« festival at the
ZKM (Center for Art and Media)
Karlsruhe on December 11th 2008. Josh Martin did the electronics.
In this piece, the two pianos are amplified with contact mics mounted
under the keyboard to blow up the mechanical sounds of the piano. Over
the course of the whole piece, the distance between the listener and
the piano becomes smaller, i.e. more and more subtle piano sounds are
transported to the listeners ear. Other conceptual processes were the
increasing desynchronisation of at the beginning coupled elements, like
player1–player2, hands–feet(pedal), hands–hands and
hands-fingers. At the very end, a recording of the dampers touching
the strings gets played back.
